The brief requests for a flexible and adaptable building that can function first as a gallery showcasing the clients’ apartment units, and later be converted into a kindergarten after 2 years.
Our concept for Lingan Gallery integrates landscape as an extension of the project. This gives a place for the users – first showroom visitors and later preschoolers – to make the place a destination for all to enjoy in many ways. To maximize the best part of the site, the south façade is designed with large openings to allow for views out into the landscape, and sunlight into the showrooms and future classrooms.
A simple façade palette comprising of 3 materials is chosen – timber, glass and whitewashed paint. The warm and natural palette mirrors the surrounding scenic national parks famed in the region.
